SUBJECT: EFC HOA April Newsletter

April 1, 2024
FROM THE BOARD
Message from our President

Hello!  Happy Spring!  I'm having a hard time believing we are past Spring Break and nearing the end of the school year.  It's happening fast!

As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I'm new at this!  Our outgoing president & board were well-oiled machines and I'm doing my best to keep up with the transition.  That said, so many of you have helped by paying your dues early and contributing to our Beautification Fund - THANK YOU!
Having those funds committed early in the year allows us to budget and plan without too much guesswork.  I really appreciate the support from all of you.  The 2024 stickers for your yard signs will be delivered next week and we'll get to work updating those right away (new members, be on the lookout for your new yard signs next week too!).

Estates of Forest Creek HOA has submitted our pre-application for the Neighborhood Vitality and Beautification Grant provided by the City of Plano.  If awarded, the grant will provide up to $20,000 (including HOA matched funds) to go toward improving our entrances and medians and enhancing the irrigation to support those areas.  Our goal is to use our EFC Beautification Fund to meet the 30% match requirement and we are about halfway there!  Please keep your donations coming!  Special "thank you" to Ranneh Kayfan for tackling the lengthy grant application process.  It was a big undertaking and we are so grateful for her service.
You can read more about the City of Plano's NVBG here https://www.plano.gov/757/Neighborhood-Vitality-Beautification-Gra

Please keep in mind, being awarded the Neighborhood Vitality and Beautification Grant would dramatically change the scope of what we will be able to do as far as landscaping and planting are concerned. The full application is due on April 14th.  Once we know if we are awarded the grant, we will begin planting.  So expect to see the same pansies and monkey grass for at least a few more weeks!

At our last board meeting we talked about the possibility of having a "Spirit Night" or social at Rusty Taco or another nearby restaurant.  I'm in the process of figuring out logistics, but wanted to share the possibility.  I've really enjoyed chatting with those of you who have reached out and would love to meet more of you in person!

Please don't hesitate to email or text!

COMMUNITY INFORMATION
"Water Twice and Be Water Wise"

Beginning April 1st, the City of Plano asks you to water lawns and landscapes only two times a week. Avoid watering between 10 am and 6 pm, and when rain is in the forecast.

Use the last digit of your home address to follow this schedule:

  • Even digit: Monday & Thursday
  • Odd digit: Tuesday & Friday

Note: All HOA watering and all addresses ending in zero follow the EVEN address watering schedule.

Though it's tempting to set the sprinkler system to automatic, it's always best to run it manually. To keep from over-watering your lawn, sign up for a friendly reminder aWaterMyYard
